Frequently Asked Questions

1. Do any of the volunteer positions require interviews?

Yes, the following positions will require an interview prior to placement:

  • Vendor Greeter
  • Safety Officer

2. The website states that volunteers must be at least 16 years of age, but I am only 14.  Is there any way for me to participate?

If you are under the age of 16 and would like to volunteer, you may do so by being accompanied by an adult during your volunteer shift.

3. I'm over 65 years of age, can I still volunteer?

Absolutely, there is no age maximum for volunteering.

4. What are the basic requirements to volunteer, am I qualified?

  • Basic customer service skills
  • Friendly and professional demeanor
  • Ability to follow directions and comply with volunteer policies
  • Commitment to make the festival enjoyable for all.

5. What happens if I cannot attend one of the mandatory training sessions?

All volunteers will be required to complete an orientation and training session.  If you discover that you will be unable to attend, let us know as soon as possible.  We will make every effort to find suitable alternate arrangements, however we cannot guarantee placement for volunteers who are unable to complete the mandatory orientation and training sessions.

6. How many shifts do I need to do?

Volunteers are required to complete one shift.  If you would like to do more than one shift, please note that you will be scheduled accordingly to accommodate breaks in between shifts.

7. How long are the shifts?

The length of shifts may vary depending on the positions, committee/volunteer schedules and changeover periods.  The average volunteer shift is three to four hours.

8. Am I expected to show up for all of the shifts that I am scheduled for?

YES! The shifts that you have been scheduled for are the shifts that you are expected to complete.  If you are unable to keep your commitment, please let us know as soon as possible so that we may adjust the schedule to accommodate these changes.

9. Once I have submitted my online application, am I automatically accepted?

No.  The volunteer coordinator will need to verify your application/suitability for the selected positions.  You will be notified regarding the status of your application.  If you have not been contacted within two weeks of submission, please contact the volunteer coordinator.
